Photography: Sacred Places
Places I visited and photographed. For those marked with an asterisk ('*'), I could only photograph the exterior. Some places do not allow photography inside (marked with '†' for the ones I went into and verified) although I have found that asking nicely sometimes causes the wardens to permit, reluctantly, a couple of shots. Sometimes I manage to sneak a few shots anyway but it's hard with the SLR—it makes you the prime target for suspicion. Many churches, especially if they are not Roman Catholic or Anglican, are often closed except for services. Sites in italics are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
