Dark Metal (1994, Red Stream)
Lineup: Thassen (vocals, keyboards), Matton (guitars), Steinhoff (drums),
Bartsch (bass, vocals, whispers)
The Deutche lords of suicidal darkness "return" (this is a 1997 re-issue of their 1994
debut on Adipocere Records) with another grinding offering that resembels a neurotic
Black Sabbath. Musically, the band plays a somewhat updated version of Sabbath's early
doom metal, with devilishly heavy lead guitars and mighty bass but with blackened vocals
used as an additional instrument. The band itself calls the style Dark Metal but it is
more like traditional heavy metal riffing with gritty vox work. Weird lyrics (all in English).
Verdict: pretty good release, the album cover does not work for me.
